Focus on Parking Space: when you work in Amsterdam
When you’re looking for houses or apartments in Amsterdam, it could be very important to look at policies regarding the parking space near your house or apartment. It is hard to find parking space in many parts of the city. The design of the streets in some parts such as Amsterdam Centrum, Jordaan and Oud-West goes back to times when parking space was not an issue, and the many canals and classic Amsterdam houses leave little room for parking space. In many cases the only parking space you have is by the side of the canal, if someone else hasn’t already parked their car in front of your house or apartment. On top of that, in most parts of the city parking is paid and you’re going to need a permit to park your car at the specifically assigned places. In many cases, there’s even a waiting list when you apply for a parking permit. All this is something to keep in mind when you’re looking for a house and you’re planning on having a car too.
